FAITH IN GOD’S WORD

“For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.”
HEBREWS 4:2 (KJV)

Our Lord Jesus Christ presented the Christian life as one that is similar to a business when he told his mother that he must be about His father’s business. That statement immediately lets us know that the father desires profit from us with respect to the input of the word and the Spirit.

It is interesting to know that the profit required by the father is ordained for our benefit as everything we do for the kingdom of God provokes a reward from God. When the Father gives us His word, He expects that the word produce salvation in us: this is the profit required from us.

Our opening scripture lets us know that the word of God didn’t profit the Israelites because it wasn’t mixed with faith in them. Faith is simply trusting God; therefore, faith in God’s word is trusting God to perform what his word talks about. It is also an absolute trust that the words of God are true of what it talks about.

Scripture says for us to receive with meekness the engrafted word of God that is able to save our soul. This salvation is one which sets us free from the cares, worries, and fears of life and delivers to us the expectation of our hearts for which we once were worried and fearful about.

In the same vein that God’s word was the solution to a once dilapidated world as described in the book of beginnings, God’s word can restructure your life experiences to fit what He talks about and what you desire earnestly.
