GOOD HEART

“But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.”
LUKE 8:15 (KJV)

Our Lord Jesus Christ brought the parable of the soil to a close by bringing hope to our hearts that there exists such a heart that can be referred to as a good heart. He had earlier told us that the seed that was planted by the sower is the word of God: this lets us know that a major function of our heart is to receive God’s word into it.

The physical heart of man is the organ that sustains the life of man; in the truest sense, it pumps life into every part of the man; likewise, is it for our spiritual heart. Our spiritual heart is the organ that sustains our life experiences. We can experience the blessedness in life or experience the sorrow in life through the functionality of our heart. Scripture says for us to guard our heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life.

We can only experience true blessedness in life as we commit God’s word to our hearts. Jesus pointed out that man is not expected to live only on earthly food only, but he is expected to live by every word that comes out of the mouth of the Father.

The good soil as explained by Jesus is one whose heart is honest and good. This heart is sincere about his intention to serve God and believe his word. This heart is not characterised with evil thoughts, motives, and desires. It is on a heart as this that the word of God can produce what it talks about. Ensure to cultivate a sincere and good heart if you are really interested in serving God.
