IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

“Jesus said to him, it is written again, you shall not tempt the Lord your God.”
Matthew 4:7 (KJV)

We previously considered, in one of our articles, the potency of what is written: either that which is written by God as contained in his word or that which is written by us. There is yet another revelation to written words, most especially in dealing with  satan.

All throughout generations, satan has been known to oppose the purposes of God in the lives of people. And it is God’s desire for us to understand the Kingdom’s strategy in dealing with him.

It is true that satan has no authority over us by virtue of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ; yet, he still seeks to deceive humans into agreeing to a lesser life – the life of sin, sickness, inadequacies, poverty etc. and he carries out his attempt on humans through their thought life.

Our opening scripture shows us how our Lord Jesus dealt with him: and in it is the strategy for defeating satan anytime and anywhere. In the previous verse, the devil suggested that Jesus turned stone to bread, and Jesus replied by telling him what was written. This is how satan often suggests contrary thoughts to us; we are to reply back with what is written.

Notice in the scripture from where our opening text was taken that the devil didn’t argue with Jesus when he quoted what was written: satan simply moved on to another temptation. We sometimes debate with satan over thoughts that he whispers into our minds – you will never win satan that way. Eve tried to argue out her point with the serpent but she lost out to satan. Scripture says, “How forcible are right words! But what does your arguing reprove?” Simply reply with what is written.

Our opening scripture points out that Jesus replied saying, “it is written again.” At this stage of temptation, satan quotes what is written in God’s word in a bid to have us adjust our behaviour to suit his suggestion. Never yield to it, reply with what is written again.

You might have written concerning yourself that you want to be known globally for positive impart, and satan tells you it is written, “despise not the days of little beginning:” this he says to refrain you from thinking big; reply him saying, “it is written again, ye are the light of the WORLD, a city set on an hill cannot be hid”.

You write concerning yourself that you want to be financially prosperous and satan tells you it is written, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Reply him saying, “It is written again, the Lord has pleasure in the prosperity of his servants.” Hallelujah! Do not argue the thought over in your mind; be bold to declare, “IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN.”

EXERCISE
Identify areas of your life where you’ve been having contradicting thoughts with respect to what God would want for you in life. Reply those thoughts with the written word.

  1. This is deep in the sense that devil can use the scriptures to cage Christians but those that can silence him are those who Know...it is written again

    1. Thanks for the thought Sir. I believe it is the worst prison a believer can get in.
