WAYSIDE HEART contd.
“Those by the way side are they that
hear; then comes the devil, and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest
they should believe and be saved.”
LUKE
8:12 (KJV)
We
earlier considered the nature of the wayside heart, stating that they are those
who are not in the way of Christ, but rather are comfortable with staying by
the side. We might even find this category of people in the church of God, but
it makes no difference about who they are as
the heart of man is stronger than the act of man.
Jesus,
in his love, does not leave this category of people without a solution to their
state of heart. We will find the solution to their heart condition in the lines
of our opening scripture.
Judging
from their position as wayside people, one of the solutions to their heart
condition is in their full dedication of
their lives to God. This implies a total trust in God without considering
the obvious realities of the world around them.
I
indicated that the only way the devil can take the word of God away from their
hearts is by causing them to forget the word that they have heard, this he does
through the busyness of life. They will
be helped by their constant remembrance of the word through studying and
meditation. The Berea Christians received the word of God with readiness of
mind and searched the scripture daily, whether those things were so.
The
last solution for those of the wayside heart is in their embrace of the ministry of the Holy Ghost. Jesus told us that the
Holy Ghost will bring all things to our remembrance that he told us. Once we
embrace the ministry of the Holy Ghost by believing in his indwelling presence,
he will bring the words of God to our remembrance when needed.
