BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE
“Then they that feared the LORD spoke
often one to another: and the LORD listened, and heard it, and a book of
remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that
thought on his name.”
Malachi
3:6 (KJV)
There
is a book in the Kingdom of God called the Book of Remembrance. This is a book
that many people aren’t aware of and they never get the appropriate the
implication of the book’s existence.
Our
opening scripture tells us that there is such a book in existence and it
documents our positive lifestyle of fellowship with the brethren. It also documents
our good deeds towards mankind as recorded in the account of Mordecai when he
helped prevent the killing of the King.
Every
action that is recorded in this book is a seed for a definite harvest;
therefore, the book was written for it to be remembered. As Christians, we must
know that our good deeds do not go undocumented by God: even the giving of a
cup of water to a saint is worthy of being noted in this book.
I
earlier said that everything written in this book is a seed that has a definite
reward to it. Stop to think of this for a moment. Can you count the number of
good deeds you have done since your arrival on earth: deeds like a smile, an
encouragement, a support, fellowship with the brethren, money given . . . you
definitely have lost count of the number. All these deeds qualify for rewards.
With
most people there is an inequality between their lifestyle of giving and their
experience of harvest as the scripture promises. This is where the problem
lies: the book in question is rightly named a book of remembrance; this is
because the contents of the book are not readily remembered until God remembers
the contents of the book. Does God forget things? He does not, but he can make
himself forget things like our sins.
For
the book of remembrance to produce a harvest we need to remind God about the
contents of the book. This is the mystery behind this book: we need understand
this to maximize its potential for harvest.
There
are two ways by which we can remind God about the contents of the book:
heartfelt worship, and bringing his attention to the content of the book in
prayer. When we worship God, as scripture admonishes us to delight ourselves in
the Lord, he will grant us the desires of our hearts – which are harvests of
our seed-sown. Worship causes God to make reference to the book in other for
him to get a good grasp of the weight of reward to give to you.
We
can further cause God to remember the content of the book by deliberately
bringing his attention to its content in prayer. God said in his word for us to
put him in remembrance. He further tells us to produce our cause, to bring
forth our strong reasons.
Begin
at once to refer God to you good deeds in the past, requesting for a harvest
with respect to your present need. Take out time to render selfless worship to
him and watch to see how the King of kings will be moved to pick up the book in
favour of your deepest desires.
EXERCISE
Take out
time in prayer to bring God’s attention to your seed-sown in the past; placing
a demand for a harvest in the area of your present need.
