SEASON OF REST

“To whom did he swear that they wouldn’t enter into his rest, but to those who were disobedient? We see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.
HEBREWS 3:19 (KJV)

As we look into the year 2017 with anticipation of what it holds for us, we need view the year from the perspective of God’s word – and this we will be doing for the remaining part of this year.

The best time to prepare for today was yesterday. The best time to prepare for tomorrow is today. Quite a number of people enter into a year without adequate spiritual preparation that is rooted in God’s word and this singular omission causes them to wander throughout that year without an obvious progress to their existence.

I believe that next year is a season of rest for God’s people, and they can only experience this rest when they grasp the revelation of God’s rest. Our opening scripture tells us of a category of people who didn’t enter into God’s rest because of unbelief and this is still happening in our days.

The completed purpose of God is defined as his rest. And he expects of us to enter into this rest. I put it to you that this rest is not limited in its scope: it extends to your finances, marriage, destiny, career, ministry etc. These amidst other things were the activities God was engaged in before earth was recreated. Your life on earth was completed before it began.

This rest I speak of is encapsulated in God’s word; and the dimension of the word that reveals this rest is the promises of God. Scripture is filled with great and precious promises: and they exist to tell us of what God has done for us and what we are expected to experience when we come into tomorrow.

A large number of the children of Israel didn’t enter God’s rest – Canaan land – because of unbelief. Is there something you expect to experience next year? Locate a promise in the scripture that assures you of it. Believe it to experience it for we are fully assured that what he had promised, he is also able to perform.

EXERCISE
Check-up God’s word for promises that align with the desires of your heart for next year, believe them and think deeply on them.
