THE WAY OUT
“But you are holy, O you that inhabit
the praises of Israel.”
Psalm 22:3 (KJV)
You
might be wondering what the solution to your challenge might be, may I submit
to you that praise can guarantee you a way out of whatever challenges you might
be going through.
Our
opening scripture brings to our knowledge the truth that God dwells in our
praises. The presence of God is what you need to overcome that challenge. His presence will deliver the expectations
of your heart to you and it will also deliver the person of God to you.
Praise
is a positive declaration towards a person either through songs or confession. It
is to speak highly of a person. Notice that scripture didn’t say that the Lord
inhabits the people of Israel – he sure does – but in this context, he dwells
in their praises. The question here is, “how does God dwell in our praises?”
This
is how it happens: when we praise God, his attention and person gets drawn to
our positive declaration towards him; thereby making our praise the focus of
his existence. Praise creates an environment
that is conducive for God to reside in.
We
judge that God has taken his abode in our praises when we see the positive
effect that our positive declaration towards him has on the circumstances of
our lives that we neglected in order to worship him. This was the experience of
Jehoshaphat in the bible: as they praised God, their enemies were slain.
In
the real sense, what we need is not to be blessed by God (for he has already
blessed us in Jesus Christ): what we truly need is for the oppositions in the
way of our receiving the blessings to be removed. The children of Israel
already had Jericho as an inheritance, they didn’t need God to give them the
land anymore – they already had it, all they needed was for the opposition –the
walls – to be removed. It was removed only when they praised God.
The
dimension of God that often resides in our praises is the LORD. He is referred to as the LORD
OF HOST. When we heartily praise God, he releases his warring angels to
clear off every opposition in the way of our receiving his blessings. Scripture
says that the Lord has gone ahead of us to make crooked ways straight.
The
next time you decide to fellowship with God, take qualitative time to praise
him rather than ask from him for he seeks such a people that worship him in the
essence of who he is.
EXERCISE
Count your
blessings by deliberately identifying his blessings in your life and give him
praise for them. Praise him for his marvelous works in the universe.
